Completed in 2021, our modern and highly automated production plant in the Raisionkaari industrial area is specifically designed and built to process and manufacture only plant-based raw materials and products. The facility is 100% vegan, dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and nut-free.
For customers and consumers, automation means consistent quality and the highest level of product safety. The plant’s heat and steam comes from our own bioenergy plant that uses wood chips. The electricity we buy is carbon dioxide free, and has been for 10 years.
Investments made at the Nokia mill enable production of gluten-free oat products and exports of oat products. Nokia mill produces gluten-free oat also for our plant-based factory at Raisio. All Raisio’s flakes are also produced at the Nokia mill.
The Nokia mill is a carbon-neutral production facility, as the new heating plant introduced in 2021 uses by-products from the mill’s own production as fuel.
The esterification plant located in the Raisionkaari industrial area produces cholesterol-lowering plant stanol ester.
Plant stanol ester is created by combining plant stanols and rapeseed oil. It is a unique, patented, and tasteless ingredient that can be added to foods. It works by preventing the absorption of cholesterol in the intestines. Plant stanol ester is the foundation of the Benecol® product family.
The traditional Sunnuntai® flours and Torino® pastas are produced at the Raisio mill. 96% of the grain we use in our food production is Finnish.
In 2023, the mill’s pasta line was renewed. The investment facilitates better new commercial product applications of different ingredients.
