President of the Republic of Finland visiting Raisio

President Niinistö visited Raisio’s new bioenergy plant and got acquainted with the development of healthy, responsible foods.

At first, President Niinistö and Raisio Group’s Chairman of the Board Matti Perkonoja, CEO Jarmo Puputti and Technical Manager Jari Sankari discussed the international success of Benecol innovation, development of responsible Benella fish and Raisio's corporate responsibility.

The President also met with over 50 Raisio employees who had a chance to discuss, for example, competence development and length of work careers with Niinistö.

President Niinistö also had a look at Raisio’s new bioenergy plant using wood chips. With the new plant, Raisio’s industrial area became carbon neutral in June 2017 and time of fossil fuels ended as companies in the area started to use steam generated with renewable energy. Using locally purchased wood chips, the new plant produces all industrial steam and district heating needed in the Raisio’s industrial area.
